Iris Festival Dates for 2013: Sunday June 9th and June 16th, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m
In the early 1990s, Judy visited the Laking Garden at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington/Hamilton to see the Iris Garden. From that visit, Judy was inspired to start her own collection of Iris. In 1998, when she relocated to Severn Township, she moved her Iris collection with her, and began an Iris garden which now features approximately 2,200 plants representing 100+ varieties of Iris.
Every year in June, Judy hosts an 'Iris Festival' where the gardens are open to the public to visit between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., rain or shine. Groups visists are also welcome with pre-arrangements.
Many of the Iris in the collection are Dykes Medal Winners, and many also are from the award winning collection of Hybridizer Chuck Chapman of Guelph, Ontario.
